Sanoj Chathuranga

Sanoj Chathuranga is the CEO of Purple Engineering, an Australian supplier of strainers, industrial filtration and pipe welding equipment that holds Australian distribution rights for a number of world-renowned brands. He leads the business alongside founder Alex Ocean.

His path to the role was a technical one. Sanoj graduated from Uva Wellassa University in 2018 with a Bachelor of Science in Mineral Processing, then spent three years as a QA and Product Development Executive at Kahatagaha Graphite Lanka. That work taught him how process equipment behaves in real operating conditions, where specifications hold and where they quietly fail.

He joined Purple Engineering in 2021 in technical sales support, working directly with customers to match equipment to their applications and solve problems on site. In 2024 he was appointed Chief Operating Officer, taking on operations, supplier partnerships and team development, and in 2026 he stepped into the role of Chief Executive Officer.

Sanoj’s focus is strengthening the supplier partnerships behind Purple’s product range, growing its share of the strainer and filtration market, and making sure every customer receives equipment that is right for the job. As he puts it, none of that happens without the people behind it.
