Gayan Chathuranga (Herath)

Gayan Chathuranga (Herath) is Purple Engineering’s Automation Engineer. He builds and manages the automation and business systems that keep sales, inventory, order management and reporting running smoothly, so customers get faster responses and accurate information about their orders.

Gayan has more than four years of experience in software development, business process automation and system integration. He specialises in Microsoft Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate and Copilot Studio), CRM and inventory automation, API integrations, AI-powered workflows and custom web applications.

Since joining Purple in 2024 he has built an automation ecosystem that processes incoming quote requests and emails, uses AI to extract and classify RFQ data, and replaces manual reporting with automated reports. He led the rollout of a new inventory management system with real-time stock synchronisation to the website, and developed an order tracking platform that gives the team a single view of every order from quote to delivery. He has also built engineering tools including pressure-drop and freight calculators.

Before Purple, Gayan worked at MiHCM, progressing from intern to Associate Software Engineer on enterprise HR software built with C#, ASP.NET MVC, SQL Server and Microsoft Azure. He holds a Bachelor of Information and Communication Technology (Hons) from the University of Sri Jayewardenepura.
