The Gauge Hatches and Venting Gauge Hatches are used to provide secure, vapor-tight, non-sparking access ports for storage tank dipping and sampling functions.

Gauge Hatches

Gauge hatches are usually engineered to offer easily available entry points for examination, measurement, and sampling inside storage tanks. These gauge hatches are fitted with a composition insert to guarantee a gas-tight, non-sparking closure. Flange plates provide blank for welding or drilled to match the customer requirements. Usually, such storage tanks store liquids and gases. They are fuel, chemicals, and petrochemicals, releasing vapor. In storage tanks where volatile substances are stored, vapor losses can occur during the inspection, measurement, and sampling inside storage tanks. There are various types of Guage Hatch designs.

Atmospheric Guage Hatch

Atmospheric Guage Hatches are designed for free vented atmospheric tanks. These hatches offer tank access when manual level gauging, temperature measurement, or sampling is required.

Applications

Some varieties of gauge hatches allow easy access to atmospheric and Low-pressure liquid storage tanks. The purpose is for dipping also called manual level measurement, temperature measurement, and sampling.

Principle of Operation

Delivers tank access when manual level gauging, temperature measurement, or sampling is needed. The safety pedal permits the operator to open the gauge hatch whilst remaining ‘hand-free to carry out the measuring process.

Atmospheric gauge hatch Model CNC 101/102 ensures easy access to atmospheric and low-pressure liquid storage tanks. This ensures manual level measurement (dipping), temperature measurement, and sampling. The safety pedal present in the Atmospheric gauge hatch permits the operator to open the gauge hatch whilst remaining ‘hands-free to continue the measuring.

Lockable Gauge Hatches are usually created to make sure easy access to storage tanks. It also controls vapor losses. The foot pedal in the Lockable Gauge Hatch enables the operator to open the cover whilst maintaining both hands-frees to perform gauging or sampling of the tank contents. CNC 102 Lockable Gauge Hatch

Types YC and YT Manheads

OCECO Manheads provide a gas-tight closure. Through it, a man can enter a tank through the rooftop after the construction of the tank. The cover is cast iron casting. A non-sparking ring, which is positioned to seat against the machined edge of the body assures gas-tight closure.

Type “YC” Manheads are fitted with a composition insert. They are recommended for tank pressures up to 1 PSI. Type “YT” Manheads have a Teflon insert and can be used in more corrosive applications.

Product Information

The cover is supported by a malleable iron yoke with a single brass bolt. The yoke is hinged on one side by a brass pin. It ranges from side to side across the cover. Consequently, when the handwheel is tightened, pressure is circulated evenly across the seating area, declaring a firm, tight closure. Holes in the yoke let the cover be padlocked in the closed position. The bases of the OCECO Manheads are of heavy plate steel construction. The OCECO Type F-1 Treadle Type Hatch is designed for use in storage tanks. But the pressures should not exceed 2 oz./sq. inch. These units can be opened by pressing straight down on a malleable iron pedal. It eliminates the clumsiness of a vertical foot pedal. These hatches are self-closing and can be padlocked in a closed position.

Type PF-1 Lockdown Gauge Hatch Specifications are as follows,

The OCECO Type PF-1 lockdown pressure gauge hatch is constructed to use in storage tanks holding internal pressures from 2 oz. to 15 P.S.I. These are very similar to Type F-1. But the treadle is replaced by a yoke. It is hinged on a brass pin, that ranges from side to side across the cover.

The OCECO Type FH-1 is used on storage tanks with a maximum pressure of 2 oz./sq. an inch or less. They are very similar, in design and dimensions, to Type F-1. But these are hand-operated tanks. All OCECO gauge hatches are made up of special materials of construction for corrosive purposes.
